At the present time, I am a Principal Consultant with Tjurunga Pty Ltd. and I also play a number of other roles:
My professional experience is spread across a number of areas of business and academia. These include:
Two years mathematical analyst at CSIRO, engaged in modelling and statistics.
Some 9 years experience in Operations Research related activities, mainly at National Mutual Life (now AXA). These included computer performance modelling, total quality management (TQM), geodemographics, financial modelling, financial engineering and other areas.
One and a half years as senior knowledge engineer on a personal financial planning system, based mainly in Boston USA.
Senior project manager for a large superannuation advise system, including responsibility for requirements elicitation and relationship management with the Commonwealth Department of Finance.
Six years academia, mainly at Monash University. Teaching a broad range of subjects at advanced levels - object-oriented programming, software lifecycle processes, intelligent systems, formal specification, etc. Research mainly in formal methods and complex adaptive systems, including production of research and journal papers on these topics.
Systems architecture team member at CSC on the CityLink electronic tollway project in Melbourne.
Systems Architect and Infrastructure Manager at PMSC (now part of CSC) for a new generation financial software project. Included driving the requirements modelling effort using business engineering principles.
A principal consultant for the Visitor Management Project for Parks Victoria.
Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and MD of TARMS, responsible for aligning the company's strategic and technology directions. TARMS was an SME financial software house. Responsible for building strategic alliances locally and internationally. Active participant in international standards setting for financial and e-commerce standards.
The above role included active member participation in the OMG (Object Management Group), the premier international standards group in IT.
Member of consulting panel for the ATO on their Strategic Management System, providing specialist modelling capabilities such as ABM and CAS.
Consultant to MYOB on their eBusiness initiative.
